Oneida story

Oneida Mansion

John Noyes(1811-1886) spend some quality time with Bible studying at Dartmouth College, Andover Theological Seminary and Yale Theological College before he came to conclusion that Christ’s second coming had taken place in 70 A.D. He was called heretic since than but it didn’t stop him and on February 20, 1834 he declared himself perfect and free from sin. “My new relationship to God cancelled out my obligation to obey traditional moral standards or the normal laws of society” he claimed.
They exclude him from Yale and revoke his ministerial license but he continued to preach and in 1848 he founded Oneida Community. Community started from 87 members and grew to 306 by 1878 when it broke apart. They work together and own everything together including such things as marriage and kids. They believe every man and woman in the commune was married to each other and promote having sex with different partners every night so no two people fall in love with each other. All members where parents of all children in the commune (children from age 2 to 12 were not allowed to become particularly close with their biological parents). The commune had a Eugenics program – the commune leader would select what they thought were the best genetic men and woman and bread them to produce spiritually superior children.
With all that rules and 19th century around it is a miracle that commune lasted for almost 30 years. I guess John was hell of a preacher.

She is not into it

Charles Désiré Hue

Here is a story from one old historian.
There was a King named Candaules who bragged of his wife’s incredible beauty to his favourite bodyguard Gyges. He went so far as ordering his bodyguard to hide behind a door in the royal bedroom to observe the Queen disrobing before bed. Gyges suppose to leave quietly while woman turn her back. So, when it happen Queen saw bodyguard leaving the room and immediately recognized that she had been betrayed and shamed by her husband and decided to have her revenge. She confronted Gyges next day leaving bodyguard with the choice “One of you must die, either my husband, the author of this wicked plot; or you, who have outraged propriety by seeing me naked.” Obviously, when woman wants it one can’t argue, so Gyges killed his King in his sleep. He married the Queen and became King, and father to the new dynasty.
Shrinks created a term Candaulism to honour killed King I guess. They say story teach us not to brag, but I think it depends who you think you are in this story – how about Gyges?:)

Pin-Up girls

Betty Grable

Betty Grable

merilynmonroeA woman whose physical attractiveness would entice one to place a picture of her on the wall. The term was first used in 1941 but practice is documented back at least to 1890s. Pin-up images often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of pin-up girls were mass-produced. One of the most popular early pin-up girls was Betty Grable, here poster was ubiquitous in the lockers of GIs during World War II.

Droit du seigneur

virpresHistorians still dispute about origin of a “right of the first night”. They also argue if it was applied “literally” as a law or just a way of a bridal tax. They say it was more like a symbolic gesture which lords used to humiliate their dependent peasants. Another interpretation is that there were a law about peasant gets permission from his lord to marry, made so to make sure that they didn’t mix up by marring some neighboring lord’s peasants. Law of the first night has lots of similar “practices” outside Middle Age Europe. There were Defloration rituals in Ancient Mesopotamia and 13th century Tibet. In Ottoman Empire Kurdish chieftains reserved the right to bed Armenian brides on their wedding night. As remains of a group marriage custom “the law” existed till the end of 19th century among some Alaska natives and some tribes of North Mexico. As most of “cruel and unfair” laws it was a good reason to start a war.
Take Mr. Braveheart for example: it was an excellent reason to start a freedom war (killing more then ten thousand people in the process).braveheart

Loves of the Gods

Caracci Loves of the Gods

Caracci Loves of the Gods

According to historians here is what happened. Some guy named Romano created 16 erotic paintings and another guy Raimondi (who was engraver) published it. They called it I Modi (The Ways). These engravings looked to me like European Kama sutra – but I’m not an expert:). Here are some of these pictures (more…)

How many you've tried?

Holidays coming and you should too – the question (besides “with whom?”) is in what position. Ancient Indian Kama Sutra has 64 sex positions. Arabic The Perfumed Garden has 39. But they talked about man and woman having fun. Now days with gay, transsexuals, group sex and variety of solid furniture we have almost limitless number of positions but these we recommend trying with extra caution. Especially if your furniture cheep and your women are far from models parameters (see caution pics inside this post) (more…)

Make love not war

For those of you who were stoned in school, there were a huge event called World War II. It has word “World” in it because while several powerful people tried to rearrange their zones of influence on our small planet lots of people from lots of countries died for their cause. It worked out pretty well (for those several powerful people) but that’s not why we brought it up. During this sad event different parties made and distributed among their enemies some leaflets that you might wanna take a look at

This suppose to say to germans that Hitler was actually half jewish

Reason to cheer up

They say everything getting worse these days – food, air, economics. What about striptease? It is hard to find origins of striptease but most of sources point out to French in 1890s – “an act in which a woman slowly removed her clothes in a vain search for a flea crawling on her body”. Yep, they definitely got cleaner these days – at least expensive ones.

Scary contraception

In Medieval Europe, things were dark for a reason, not the least of which was that, with the lights on; a typical man might wonder why his girlfriend had weasel balls strapped to her leg.

The reason is obvious to anyone with a degree in Magician Science from the Hogwarts School, as any magician at that time would tell you that the weasel balls would prevent pregnancy. What a power of magic, you see?

We may not be magicians and our amateur dabbling in gynecology has been less than revealing, but we’re pretty sure this method is aces since we don’t know many men who would be able to perform sexually after seeing a pair of innocent, severed balls hanging from his mate as decoration.

First known transsexual

He married and divorced five women. He painted his eyes, epilated his hair and wore wigs before prostituting himself in taverns and brothels. He had men lovers also, one was his chariot driver whom he referred to as his husband, with another one he did a public marriage ceremony. He was delighted to be called “the mistress, the wife” of his men lovers. It looks like they didn’t like him much since he managed to live only 18 years and was assassinated by his cousin. He was a Roman Emperor and he lived in second century. His name was Elagabalus (born Varius Avitus).
